Design Consultation: Jennifer

What a nice relaxing weekend.  You know…the ones where you don’t do much at all?  Finally back in the swing of things today, and I’m excited to share with you the second half of the design consultation that I did with my friends awhile ago.  Remember Michelle’s?  Well, another good friend, Jennifer, was also a willing participant and model for myself, and photographers Elya, Stefanie, and Susan.  We went through her closet, added a few of my own accessories and re-mixed away!

Jennifer and I met several years ago when John and I first moved to Texas.  She and her husband, Matt, showed us the best ways to enjoy Texas, from camping and river floating to hanging out at the lake…along with the best Christmas party you’ll ever attend (complete with pajamas!).  Jennifer’s also the epitome of easy going beach style–she rocks a sundress, sandals, and blond curls like nobody’s business.   She made me laugh when she pulled out her camo jacket for her “before” picture just for good measure–Matt’s going to love that it’s going to good use.

Jennifer’s closet includes tons of options for pattern and color mixing.  Jennifer tends to gravitate towards wearing one color or pattern at a time, so I decided to mix it up and put multiple colors and patterns together in most of the outfits.  She works in a business environment, so we mixed in work outfits with more casual options as well.  I’ve seen Jennifer wear this cute little black and white striped tank on a few occasions, so by simply adding a pop of color and a collared shirt, she’s ready for the office!  Nothing beats a dual purpose wardrobe!

This next one may be a teensy-bit selfish.  But only because this outfit is my own go-to recipe!  Flowy tank + cardigan + jeans + heels = perfect for any occasion.    I love the added layers that gives Jennifer’s summer wardrobe a great transition into fall.  She looooooves summer even more than I love fall and winter (crazy, I know!) so her closet definitely gravitates towards summer clothes…just as mine does towards cozy winter layers!

Jennifer also has a fabulous black and white skirt (with pleats even!!).  I wanted to mix it up a bit, so we hiked it up and pinned it to make it a high-waisted version of itself.  A red top, skinny white belt, and silver chain complete the look.  Jennifer was a bit hesitant at first with the high waist (aren’t we all?), but don’t you just love how it looks on her?  She really rocks it!

This last one is my absolute favorite.  Albeit a bit warm for the 100+ degree day on which these photos were taken, it was such a fun and unexpected twist to mix 2 of Jennifer’s summer dresses into 1 outfit.  She happened to have 2 green and white dresses of varying patterns and lengths, so we put them together!  I’ve really been loving pattern mixing lately, and doing it within the same color family is an easy win.  I think the biggest hurdle with this outfit is that you know you’re wearing 2 dresses, and you think everybody else does too.  They don’t!  I promise.  Unless you tell them, and then they probably do.  But now they’re amazed at your mad skills.

So what do you think?  What’s your favorite look on Jennifer?  Do you want to see more of these design consultations?  It was definitely fun for me!
